PM Notes Six Factors That Have Allowed for Joyful Khmer New Year Celebrations

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has noted six main factors that have allowed people to happily celebrate the Khmer New Year in 2023.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Angkor Sangkranta on Friday morning, 14 April 2023, at the Bayon Temple in Siem Reap, Prime Minister Hun Sen outlined the six factors as: peace, good management of the Covid-19 pandemic, new infrastructure connecting the country, improved ease of transportation, sufficient income among citizens, and good organization of Khmer new year events by the government and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC).

"It is no simple miracle that this big event was made possible," he said, but rather a reflection of the months and years of hard work done by the government and all relevant stakeholders.

The Khmer New Year is a time for Cambodians across country to celebrate and reunite with their families. In the current era of peace, people can freely and happily participate in national new year celebrations.
